Subject: Update on the Gramashram Project for Wayanad Landslide Relief*
Dear Members of the Kingston Malayali Association and Valued Supporters, We hope this message finds you in good spirits. We would like to take a moment to update you on the progress of the Gramashram project funded through your generous contributions to the GoFundMe campaign for Wayanad landslide relief. - The funds collected through the campaign have been allocated to the Gramashram Trust, which is now actively engaged in land development work in Pulpalli, Wayanad. They are currently executing critical tasks, such as building retainer walls and clearing the land. We expect this initial phase to be completed within the next ten days, after which construction of the houses will begin promptly. - As part of the first phase of the project, the Gramashram Trust has committed to constructing six houses, each designed as a 2BHK with concrete roofing. The estimated cost for each house is 7.25 lakhs. Their aim is to complete these homes before the monsoon season arrives. - After the initial phase, there are plans to develop an additional plot of land near Mananthavadi, where ten more houses will be constructed. Land development for this project is yet to commence. - The contributions from our GoFundMe campaign will be utilized to cover part of the construction costs for the six houses in Pulpalli. The beneficiaries have already been identified and include individuals displaced by the landslide who do not qualify for government assistance due to their living circumstances, as they were residing in tea estate quarters (layam/padi) without land or property registered in their names. We remain committed to keeping you updated on the progress of this vital project and the impact of your contributions in the days to come. Thank you once again for your unwavering support and generosity in helping those affected by this tragedy. Warm regards, KMA
